Metadata provides information about a certain item’s content; metadata can make finding and work with particular instances of data easier.
For example, an image may include metadata that describes the colour depth, image resolution, creation date, and more. A text document’s metadata may contain information about a number of words, authors name, when the document was written, and a short summary of the document.
